This life ushers up a smorgasbord of pain, heartache, and suffering!
We humans often mask our pain behind smiles, humor, and denial…but that doesn’t mean it’s not their…its just hidden. Our eyes tell a different story…they speak truth…they reveal what’s really locked behind the disguise we wear to camouflage the pain.
No one is exempt from some form of hurt…it’s the common denominator that makes us all human. Oh…we think some people always land on top, but if we looked closely into their world we would see their pain.
Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed. 1 Peter 4:12-13.
Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 2 Timothy 3:12.
As a child my parents taught me the difference between right and wrong. If I chose to do what was right and obedient I would stay out of trouble. It was a fairly simple concept and it worked relatively well for me until I entered the world outside my parents home.
You see…everyone has different rules, and even if other people’s rules lined up with mine it didn’t mean they wanted to follow them. Sometimes, doing the right thing can make other’s upset and land you smack dab in the middle of a lot of trouble. We live in a sinful world and most of us don’t like to be confronted with our sins, therefore many times things go south when one is confronted with their wrong behaviors. And then things get messy and uncomfortable and we wish we’d never gotten involved.
Sometimes, truth telling makes the one telling the truth the villain. It all seems so upside down…and yet we are called to speak truth.
Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. Ephesians 4:15.
We must speak the truth…even when it is not easy to do so!
And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32.
We must not have a spirit of fear!
For God gave us not a spirit of fearfulness; but of power and love and discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7.
We will endure suffering in this life…scripture promises we will, however we must not let the trials of this life keep us from doing what is right. We mustn’t let the darkness overtake the light. Lean in to God when the trials grow long…take comfort in His Word.
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it. John 1:5.
