Vessel

DSCN4353a

We come into this world an empty vessel. Not pristine and white without blemish or stain. No, broken…chipped…with long jagged cracks. This brokenness (sin nature) is what makes us human and in need of a Savior.

Our emptiness needs to be filled. There’s only One who can fill, satisfy the longing in our soul and that is Christ. But we go looking, pouring into poor substitutes that never appease. We try filling with a whole gamut of things–the love of the opposite sex, money, material possessions, work, alcohol and drugs, charitable works, busyness–but they spill from the cracks and never fill.

Unless we give ourselves over to the Lord and accept His free gift of salvation, we will never be placated. His love alone is all we’ll ever need–it satisfies! His glory shines through our broken place illuminating us to shine like stars.

Blessings, Kasey

  1. Couldn’t agree more with you Kasey. We often try many things to fill our emptiness and it may leave us feeling full temporarily but the emptiness always returns. Found your via Michell’s DYWW linkup. Happy Wednesday.

  2. He is the only one who can fill those empty places and not only will He fill them, but they will overflow from His love. Great message. Thank you so much for sharing with Three Word Wednesday.

  3. Jesus is the only one that truly meets our need–that hollow place in our heart. He is the only one that can heal our wounds. This weekend is Sanctity of Human Life Sunday. Roe v. Wade was a mistaken “cure” for the hardship women face.

  4. Dear Kasey
This is soo… true! We were created as spiritual beings with a soul and a body and without the Life and Love of God filling our hearts, we will never be at peace!
