Hooking up with Five Minute Friday. Write unedited for five minutes on one word. Today’s word is fight.
Fight
Does everything have to be a fight? We fight to get up in the morning. Fight to keep the house cleaned, laundry folded, food prepared, and bills paid. We fight to spend time with our loved ones, our friends, and our God. We fight for a moment to breathe…to be still…to rejuvenate.
Could we be fighting the wrong fight–man’s fight…man’s plans…man’s desires. A fight we were never intended to fight. In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps Proverbs 16:9.
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matthew 11:28-30. When we allow God to establish our steps–let go of man’s plans–our yoke will be easy to bear. Let’s stop fighting for man’s plans and rest in the care of the Lord.

Good reminder to let God fight our battles for us. A lot of what we worry and fight about anyway are things out of our control. Thanks!
