Today’s writing prompt is Beautiful.

I need not look any further than my backyard to see the beautiful fingerprints of God.  My (four) blessings and their daddy splashing, laughing, and yelling, “Marco Polo” in the pool.  Their blond heads bobbing up and down as they dive and swim in a frenzy to stay away from the (one) whose it. Their bodies bronze from spending hours playing in the sun’s rays.

The smell of fresh cut grass, their long blades of green now clipped and well manicured.  Flower’s blooming faces in every shade of the rainbow: red orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet.  Butterflies competing with the bees to taste the flower’s sweet nectar.

The sun’s yellow rays kiss my face as a gentle breeze caresses my check. A squirrel crouches near and then scurries up a tall tree laden with emerald leaves.  Birdsong mingles with the raucous laughter of my children.

Large white fluffy clouds that have been scuttling across the expanse all day begin to evaporate as the brilliant blue sky fades into bands of pink, orange, and yellow.  As the sun’s giant orb makes its finally descent behind the horizon dozens of fireflies begin to flutter about.  Their yellow lanterns blink on and off as they dance across the yard and hover over the leafy stalks of corn.  My youngest chasing flashing lights until she succeeds in capturing one which she brings to me to admire.

Sparklers blazing bright in the hands of my children celebrating our nations birth.  Their father’s laughter as they ignite firecrackers that pop and smoke. Yes, the wonderful beautiful hand of God is present in my backyard.

The beauty of God’s creation is only a glance away.

Counting blessings, KaseyFive Minute Friday
